About us

Waiheke Alpaca Stud was originally established in 2004 on the beautiful Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf, now expanded and based in Cambridge only a 5 minute Drive Sth of Cambridge in the Waikato, NZ. The farm is run by Keenan and Lisa Scott and we are full-time alpaca farmers and are very passionate about our Alpaca herd and their well-being. This care extends  through to long after the animals have been sold and have left the farm with free advice and hands on assistance with alpaca husbandry. Our Alpacas are run on pastures we farm utilising Organic Principles, no Sprays or Chemical Fertilisers of any type are used. Keenan is active around the New Zealand Show Circuit having been a fully qualified AANZ Alpaca Judge, Show Steward and of course showing alpacas ourselves. So don't hesitate to say Gidday.
 

Breeding Program

We are breeding Huacaya and Suri alpacas in the full range of colours. We strive to produce highly advanced fleeces on every alpaca and fast-track our breeding program by utilising Embryo Transfer. To provide tangible and more predictable results we select animals to be DNA, GIFT and Skin Follicle tested. You will find some of these test results published throughout our website. We continually source animals of superior genetics and elite quality to compliment this breeding system. Some of our recent imports include superfine White, Fawn, Black and Grey animals exclusive to Waiheke Alpaca. Keenan regularly visits Australia and has many opportunities to visit major alpaca shows, auctions, other breeders and Breed / Fleece Development Courses. Our unprecedented success with Embryo Transfer in New Zealand has seen our herd grow from strength to strength. Keep an eye on our News & Events page for developments.
